Betterwood only uses wood from sustainable, certified forestry. With our Colombian teak decking boards this means that areas that have been abandoned by agriculture are reforested and sustainably managed.
The University of Magdalena has now discovered an extraordinary diversity of species in the mixed forest plantations where the wood for our teak decking boards grows. The endangered ocelot, a small tiger cat, has also settled there.
An indication of the ecological value of the reforestation: ocelots are dependent on protective vegetation and react sensitively to even the smallest changes. The greatest threat to the small cat of prey today is the destruction of its habitat. We are therefore particularly pleased that ocelots have found a new home on our plantations!
