Betterwood transports FSC® wood CO2 neutral

From the sawmill to your home: Betterwood’s entire logistics are climate-neutral. This means that the positive ecological balance is not lost during the transportation of our goods. In cooperation with our partner Co2ol, we fully offset the CO2 emitted during transportation from Latin America to our customers via a reforestation project in Bolivia.

In concrete terms, this means that deserted areas on the farms of Bolivian smallholders are reforested with a mixture of native tree species appropriate to the location. Fallow land is upgraded and sustainable, ecological forestry is possible.

More than 15 percent of the project area will be designated as nature conservation areas and will provide permanent total reserves for the native flora and fauna. By setting up community businesses, the initiative supports the smallholders in selling the jointly produced precious woods, which creates long-term income for the smallholders and should ensure a valuable contribution to the sustainable development of the project region. The Bonn-based agency Co2ol is coordinating the project and organizing Co2 certificate trading.

Betterwood transports the wooden decking , wooden tiles and cutting boards CO2-neutral to neighboring European countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Austria and the Czech Republic – and soon also to Switzerland due to high demand.
