Betterwood wood tiles at the FSC® – What is so special about FSC tropical wood?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an international non-profit organization that has set itself the task of certifying wood for its sustainability. All Betterwood wood products are FSC®-certified. This means that the tropical wood must ten principles of the FSC® principles. The principles summarize the comprehensive standards for sustainable wood products.

For example, a forestry company must submit a precise management plan in which no more wood is removed from the forest than will grow back in the same period. Compliance can be checked, as illegal interventions in the forest can still be detected many years later.

The population must also benefit from the cultivation and the rights of the indigenous population must be guaranteed. At the same time, the biodiversity and ecological benefits of a forest must be preserved and strengthened: This applies to primary forests, but also to plantations.

The FSC® certificate system is the most internationally recognized and strictest control for sustainable wood products. The WWF recommends using only FSC wood to be used. The FSC® regularly and independently audits forestry operations, sawmills and retailers – i.e. every part of the retail chain – for compliance with its standards.

In addition, we at Betterwood are in direct contact with our suppliers and foresters in Latin America and can see the working conditions, the rainforest and the plantations for ourselves.

Because the principles of sustainable forestry are particularly important to us, we are delighted that the FSC®-Germany to use the easy-to-install Betterwood teak elements for its exhibition stands. Betterwood teak elements for its exhibition stands.
