Assembly instructions BioMaderas clips

Concealed fastening has technical advantages over a visible screw connection. There are various systems on the market. For concealed fastening of particularly hard decking boards, we recommend the tried and tested system of BioMaderas stainless steel clips or BioMaderas Clips Composit .

BioMaderas Clips

1. clips and screws

You will need two BioMaderas clips, four shorter screws for fastening the clips to the underside of the decking board and one longer screw for fastening a clip in the substructure for each decking board/substructure intersection. Use a stainless steel bit to prevent oxidation points on the floorboards.

2. screw the clip onto the decking board

Turn the decking board with the underside facing upwards and attach the clips slightly offset to the underside of the decking board.

The clip, which is later screwed into the substructure, must always be attached to the decking boards at the position that later crosses the substructure. This is not necessary for the clip, which is slid under the already laid row of planks. However, the clip pushed underneath should not be more than three centimeters away from the next substructure.

Screw the clips to the underside of the decking board using two of the shorter screws. The screws are self-drilling and do not necessarily need to be pre-drilled. With very hard woods, however, you can significantly reduce bit wear by pre-drilling.

3. slide the clips under the fixed plank

Turn the decking boards with the visible side facing upwards and slide the clip under the row of boards already attached. The clip, which is pushed under the row of planks, does not necessarily have to lie on a substructure, but can also lie close to the substructure (at a maximum distance of 3 cm). Attention: This clip is not screwed into the substructure.

4. screw the clip onto the substructure

Now insert the decking board with a clip under the already fixed row of boards. The other clip lies open on the substructure. This must now be screwed into the substructure using the longer stainless steel screw. The substructure for the screw hole must be pre-drilled here. Repeat this and the previous steps until the decking surface is completely covered with decking boards.

5. fasten the first and last plank

The first and last planks can be connected to the substructure in two ways using BioMaderas clips with concealed screws. For both variants, the stop pin must be hammered into each stainless steel clip per screw connection point. With composite clips, the clip is shortened.

6. concealed fastening of the first plank

Screw a clip onto the underside of the plank parallel to the course of the plank so that the eyelet for the substructure screw protrudes to the side. To do this, the stop pin of the clip must be bent over. With the composite clips, the clip is shortened just behind the hole for the screw of the substructure. With this variant, the substructure must protrude at least 8 millimeters below the decking board. The eyelet must be accessible for screwing in and must not be blocked by a solid structure (e.g. house wall).

7. visibly fasten the first plank

With this variant, use one visible stainless steel decking screw per intersection of substructure and decking board for fastening the first and last row of boards. To ensure that a gap is maintained between the plank and the substructure, a clip must also be screwed over the entire surface under the plank with this variant. The decking screw is screwed into the substructure at a distance of 1.5 cm to 2.5 cm from the edge of the decking with pre-drilling through the board.

You can also remove a plank from the middle of the terrace with a joint spacing of at least 6 mm if you loosen not only the plank in question but also 3 to 4 neighboring planks and slide them into each other like an accordion. Use a 50 mm Torx 20 bit to loosen the screws in the joint.
