CONSULTING ” DECKING BOARDS ” Height compensation

Height adjustment of a wooden deck

The foundation and support points of a wooden deck are often uneven. In addition, there is a certain height – such as the door exit – that you want to achieve with the covering. from 5cm to 400cm – almost any installation height is possible with the right material.

Accessories for height compensation

There is a suitable product and construction method for every installation height.

With posts very high heights can be achieved. However, it is also by far the most complex construction method, as it is difficult to adjust the height after the post has been cut to size.

Pedestal supports offer the advantage that they can still be adjusted in height while the substructure lies on them. They can also be individually extended using adapters. This makes height adjustment easy. Their height limit is 30 cm to 50 cm, depending on the variant.

Decking pads are designed for low installation heights, ensure minimum ventilation of the decking and prevent the substructure from becoming waterlogged. The height compensation works here by using several pads in different thicknesses

Have the installation height (and everything else) calculated

We use our decking planner to calculate the material required for the right installation height. You will receive an installation plan and the corresponding quotation.

Construction methods depending on gradient

Slope: low | installation height: up to 10 cm

If the foundation only has a slight slope and the terrace is to have a low installation height, terrace pads are sufficient as a support for the substructure. If the substrate is made of soil, paving slabs or similar should be used as a support.

Patio Pads Exposed Aggregate Concrete

Slope: low to moderate | installation height: up to 30 cm

If the slope in the foundation is up to 30 cm and the terrace is to be raised by a maximum of 30 cm, pedestals, possibly with adapters, are suitable for the wooden terrace structure. Foundation stones are used as a support when building on earth.

Slope: slight to steep | installation height: up to 50 cm

With a steeper gradient and a higher installation height of up to 50 cm, a combination of counter battens and pedestal supports is recommended. This construction method also reduces the number of foundation stones required.

Counter Battens Posts

Gradient: slight to steep | installation height: up to 400cm

If high heights have to be reached from the foundation to the terrace surface, this only works with counter battens and vertical posts. This construction method is relatively complex and sometimes requires an inspection by a structural engineer and planning permission.
