Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Betterwood decking boards come from sustainable forestry in Latin America or Asia. They are imported directly, without any intermediate trade, so that the working conditions and the ecological sustainability of the forestry can be checked personally. All suppliers and the company itself are independently inspected, and only wood that meets the high social and ecological standards receives the FSC® 100% certificate.
Learn moreYes, sustainable tropical timber is possible. In forestry, sustainability means that the forest is managed in such a way that future generations can also benefit from it in the long term. At Betterwood, tropical wood is sourced exclusively from sustainable, FSC®-certified forestry in Latin America or Asia. Direct imports without intermediate trade make compliance with high social and ecological standards verifiable, so that forest protection and economic benefits for the local population are combined.
Learn moreSustainability is monitored via the FSC® certificate (Forest Stewardship Council). This internationally recognized system regularly and independently audits all stages of the supply chain – from forestry to sawmills to retailers. Ecological and social standards are assessed.
FSC®-certified forestry operations must prove that no more wood is removed than grows back and document their management transparently. In addition, the system protects the rights of indigenous peoples, safeguards the ecological benefits of the forests, preserves biodiversity and ensures that the local population benefits from the forest. This control guarantees that sustainable tropical timber actually meets the high environmental and social standards.
