Garden furniture care

For quick cleaning of wooden garden furniture such as teak, it is sufficient to brush off coarse dirt, apply a biodegradable patio cleaner (1:10 with water), leave to act briefly and then scrub with a brush, then rinse off. Plastic, polyrattan or metal furniture can be easily cleaned with warm soapy water and a sponge. This will clean the furniture efficiently without damaging it.

The easiest way to sand your wooden garden furniture is by hand, as corners and curves are easy to reach. Start with 180 grit sandpaper and then smooth the wood with 240 grit. We recommend cleaning before sanding, e.g. with patio cleaner, so that dirt and biofilm do not impair the sanding result.

It is best to oil your wooden garden furniture when it is clean, dry and free from dust or grease. Apply the oil evenly with a lint-free cloth, brush or roller and massage it in until the surface appears dry. After about 24 hours, you can polish the furniture again to achieve an even finish.

Store your wooden garden furniture as dry as possible, ideally in a garage or carport to protect it from the elements. You should avoid protective covers, as moisture can build up underneath; alternatively, you can use a loosely laid tarpaulin with sufficient air circulation. This ensures that the wood remains durable and retains its quality.
