Even with carefully planned supply chains emissions are generated – primarily through sea transportation and pre-carriage. It is crucial to make these paths transparent and to offset any remaining emissions in a climate-effective way.
Our teak sources are located in Mato Grosso, Brazil. These are reforested areas that were cleared and used for agriculture in the past. From there, the wood is transported by truck to the export port and then by ship to Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City).
In Binh Duong and Phu Yen, the teak is precisely cut, dried and processed into parquet. The factories use the material efficiently so that as much high-quality product as possible is created from each log.
From Vietnam, container ships travel via Singapore through the Indian Ocean and the Suez Canal to Europe. The route to Rotterdam usually takes around 21 days.
The container is then transported by barge or truck to our warehouse in Drolshagen in the Sauerland region. From there, we deliver the teak parquet throughout Europe.
A container with around 15 m³ of teak products travels approximately 34,427 kilometers. This results in around 1,511 kilograms of CO₂ for the sea route, inland logistics and trucks. These emissions are offset via a reforestation project in Indonesia compensated for.
