Oiling & waxing parquet

Why oil or wax parquet?

Olive oil penetrates the wood, hardens in the pore structure and emphasizes grain and color – the surface remains open-pored and diffusible. wax It also forms a thin, protective layer with a silky sheen. Both versions are partially repairable (spot repair of stains/wear) and are ideal for high-quality, sustainable woods.

  • Natural look & feel: warm, matt to satin-matt, not “plasticky”.
  • Easy to repair: selective refreshing instead of complete grinding.
  • Slipperiness & indoor climate: open-pored, pleasant walking surface.

Tip: In the kitchen/hallway/entrance to the house, use oil-based systems with regular maintenance; in the bathroom (teak, etc.), ensure careful edge sealing and ventilation.

Oil vs. wax vs. hard wax oil

Preparation, application & maintenance

Preparation: Thoroughly clean the surface, sand it finely if necessary, and remove dust. Room temperature: 20–22 °C, 40–60% RH. Tape off/protect edges.

Oiling/Waxing: Apply a thin and even layer (pad/roller/spatula depending on the system). Carefully remove any excess after the application time; do not leave the product wet on wet. Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the number of coats and drying time.

Drying & Curing: Avoid drafts, ventilate evenly. Do not apply full weight until the surface has completely cured; do not install carpets until later.
