Wood tile quality

Find the best and most durable wooden tiles for outdoor use. Find out what is important when it comes to the quality of wooden tiles and how high durability is achieved.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The best wood tiles are characterized by high wood quality (premium or FAS), maximum durability (resistance class 1) and kiln-dried wood (KD). A sustainable origin is also important, e.g. FSC®-certified. Tropical woods such as teak, cumaru, garapa or jatoba meet these criteria and offer durable, robust and visually attractive tiles for gardens, balconies or patios.

Learn more

Wooden tiles made from tropical woods in resistance class 1 – such as teak or cumaru – have a natural lifespan of over 25 years outdoors. However, the actual durability depends on the site conditions: Sunny, well-ventilated places increase the lifespan, while shady or humid locations can shorten it. A well-drained plastic grid also supports longevity.

The plastic grid of the wooden tiles is made of polypropylene (PP). This plastic is harder and stronger than polyethylene (PE) and ensures that the substructure remains unbreakable and durable for a long time, even when exposed to the elements.
