Best wood for wooden panels

The character of a room is determined by the choice of wood for the table, kitchen worktop and furniture. However, the best wood should also hardly warp and be particularly durable. It is often exposed to stresses such as moisture, heat and scratching objects – especially in the kitchen or as a dining table. High-quality and attractive woods should therefore also have the best values in terms of density and hardness. From our point of view, teak has the best values here.

Acacia

If you buy acacia worktops in Germany, you won’t usually get the African wood species acacia, but robinia wood. Despite this actually incorrect declaration, the name acacia has prevailed. The false acacia has good durability and hardness for a European tree species. However, the main reason for its success as wood for the mass market is its very low price. Unfortunately, the wood has a strong tendency to warp, crack and splinter. Therefore, false acacia is not the best choice for use in the kitchen.

Beech

The beech is the most widespread deciduous tree in Germany. As a relatively heavy and dense European wood, it is comparable to oak. Its typical reddish-yellow coloring and fine vein structure ensure a calm appearance. It is not suitable for direct use as a work surface, as the wood tends to shrink and could crack. It requires careful and gentle treatment.

Oak

Oak wood has a relatively high strength for a European hardwood. It is therefore rather insensitive to impacts. The annual rings are clearly set off in oak and give the wood a decorative structure with a fairly wide color spectrum. It is particularly popular for interior fittings, furniture, windows and doors. Oak is only suitable for kitchen worktops to a limited extent, as it can warp if it comes into contact with water for a long time.

Teak

Very dimensionally stable Thanks to its high oil and rubber content, teak has the best resistance of the woods described here to wood-destroying fungi. Its surface is particularly smooth. Teak has a low tendency to warp and is hardly prone to cracking and splintering. It is considered to be a very high-quality fine wood, ideally suited for use as a worktop in the kitchen. The clear and distinct structure allows the growth zones of the wood to be clearly recognized. The warm radiance is created by the light gold to dark gold-brown color spectrum.
