Outdoor use

A wooden panel for outdoor use must meet high technical requirements. But it must also be installed and used correctly – and yet the wood will change, turn gray and crack. If you expect something different, you should choose a different material.

If then teak

Only very durable and dimensionally stable wood should be used outdoors. Teak offers the best values of all types of wood. Our solid wood panels are made from teak of the highest resistance class, the glue used is weatherproof. Nevertheless, the following must be observed:

The uneven moisture content on the top and underside can cause the board to warp. It should be ensured that these are securely bolted to a frame or cross struts. It also helps if the plate is regularly freed from standing water.

In the change between summer and winter, the wood can work and the typical aging effects of wood – such as cracking or graying of the material – can occur. This process can be delayed but not completely stopped by treating the surface with oil or boat varnish.

Lasting joy

If you are aware of these natural properties of the material and take the appropriate measures, you will have a lot of fun with the teak board outdoors.

If you have any doubts as to whether you can implement the design requirements, it is better to use our teak slats. These can be used to install joints on the surface that minimize the risk of warping and ensure water drainage.
