Our chopping block advice

Which chopping block format is suitable for which application and how can you best care for them? We answer these and many other questions about cutting boards and chopping blocks in our advice.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Teak is naturally hard, yet gentle on knife blades. It has a dense structure that minimizes cuts and keeps the blades sharp for longer. It is also resistant to moisture and deformation.

Cleaning: Wipe with warm water and mild detergent after each use. Do not soak.
Care: Oil regularly with a food-safe oil (e.g. mineral oil) to protect the wood from drying out.
Protection: Avoid direct sunlight and extreme humidity.

No, teak chopping blocks should not be cleaned in the dishwasher, as the heat and moisture can damage and warp the wood.

With the right care, a teak chopping block can last for many years, often decades. Its natural resistance to moisture and wear and tear contributes to its longevity.

Food-safe mineral oil or special wood care oil for kitchen utensils is best. It protects the wood and preserves its natural beauty.
