Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The most durable decking boards are made from tropical hardwoods. Teak, cumaru, garapa and jatoba are particularly impressive due to their high resistance to weathering, moisture and pests. With the right care, these decking boards can last for several decades and at the same time offer an elegant appearance.

Teak, Cumaru, Garapa and Jatoba are the best choice for high-quality decking boards. These types of wood are characterized by their exceptional hardness, stability and natural durability. They are perfect for creating a long-lasting terrace with an exclusive character.

Green deposits on decking boards are best removed with water and a stiff brush. For heavier deposits, special wood cleaners can be used to gently clean the surface of teak, cumaru, garapa and jatoba. The use of a high-pressure cleaner should be avoided in order not to damage the wood surface.

Teak, Cumaru, Garapa and Jatoba decking boards are among the most durable types available. With good care, they can achieve a lifespan of 25 to 40 years. Regular cleaning and treatment with suitable maintenance oils not only ensures a long service life, but also preserves the natural color of the wood.

A stable substructure is required under decking boards made of teak, cumaru, garapa or jatoba, usually made of the same hardwoods or aluminum. It is also recommended to place a weed fleece under the construction and to ensure sufficient drainage so that water cannot accumulate. This ensures that the decking remains permanently stable and durable.

The wooden decking of our customers

Cumaru terraces

“I can only recommend Betterwood! We built our Cumaru terrace three years ago and have spent many pleasant hours on it since then. I maintain this every year and am always delighted with the friendly and engaging contact.”

Dennis Junglas

Garapa terraces

“Many thanks for the fantastic advice and planning. We are totally delighted with the Garapa wood after completing our terrace. We were very impressed by the ingenious solutions for the substructure and the concealed screw connections.”

Christa Perleb

Teak terraces

“Our teak floorboards are still very straight even after many years. We really like the silver color that the floorboards have taken on. It’s a wonderful feeling to walk barefoot on the terrace. We don’t have to be afraid of splinters. Can only recommend this wood.”
