Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The best substructure for a terrace depends on the choice of boards and the local conditions. Substructures made of aluminum or hardwoods such as Cumaru or Garapa are particularly durable. They offer a high level of stability, are weather-resistant and ensure a long service life for the entire decking.

The use of spacers or rubber granulate pads is recommended between the decking boards and the substructure. These ensure better ventilation, prevent waterlogging and reduce friction. This makes the decking more durable and the substructure remains stable.

The thickness of the substructure depends on the load and the choice of material. As a rule, the support timbers or aluminum profiles should have a height of at least 40-60 mm. For larger spans or high loads, greater dimensions may be required to ensure the necessary stability.

A robust and resistant substructure is crucial for wooden floorboards. Hardwoods such as Cumaru or Garapa are ideal, as they offer high resistance to moisture and pests. Aluminum is also a very good alternative, as it is absolutely dimensionally stable, durable and low-maintenance.
