To ensure that the positive eco-balance is also guaranteed when shipping our goods, we make our entire logistics climate-neutral. We fully offset the CO2 that is emitted during transportation from Latin America to our customers.
We offset every gram of CO2 emitted during the transportation of our timber by ship, train or truck through several reforestation projects worldwide. This ensures that the positive ecological balance that we achieve by promoting sustainable forestry is also supported by logistics.
In our sustainable primary forest management, no aisles may be cut for transportation. The felled trees are therefore removed from the forest via existing paths and rivers.
The tree trunk is first cut into sawn timber in the sawmill, then kiln-dried and planed to the final size. After quality control, the goods are loaded into an overseas container and transported to the port by truck.
The timber now begins its journey across the oceans by container ship. Our Asian timber usually crosses the Suez Canal, while Peruvian and Bolivian timber passes through the Panama Canal.
Once the ship has unloaded its goods at the port of Rotterdam, they are usually transported on the Rhine and later by truck to our warehouse in Drolshagen near Olpe. Here the quality is checked again and the timber is packed for transportation to our customers.
