Project in the Amazon
Anyone who buys wood from South America from us supports the protection of the Peruvian rainforest on the Amazon. In this project, we help the indigenous people to their property rights, with which they defend themselves against displacement by illegal deforestation and agro-industry.
The goal: strengthening indigenous rights
The spread of industrial agriculture is putting immense pressure on indigenous communities in the Peruvian rainforest. Since you do not own your land, you are vulnerable to displacement. The aim of this project is to secure these property rights for 220 indigenous communities and thus protect an area of six million hectares of rainforest.
The location: Amazonas in Peru
The Loreto and Ucayali regions are the two largest Amazonian areas in Peru and are traditionally occupied and protected by indigenous groups. This Amazon region – also known as Andean Amazonia – is considered a diversity hotspot in what is already the most biologically diverse area on earth.
Our partners: Rainforest Trust & CEDIA
The US NGO Rainforest Trust and the local Center for the Development of an Indigenous Amazon Organization (CEDIA) have been working together for 25 years and have already achieved enormous success in rainforest protection by empowering the indigenous population.
