Concealed screw connection

A wooden terrace made of durable tropical wood places high demands on its fastening system. Visible screw connection

The visible screw connection of decking boards is the classic and offers the advantage over concealed fastening, for example, that the boards can be replaced more easily. In addition, the variant is cheaper and easier to lay. For the screwing of particularly hard and durable tropical wood floorboards, a rust-proof and unbreakable stainless steel be respected. The screws at Betterwood are made for it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Visible fasteners are easier to install and more cost-effective, while concealed fasteners offer a more aesthetically pleasing finish without visible screws. The choice depends on individual preference and the desired appearance.

With concealed fastening, clips are inserted into the groove of the decking boards and screwed to the substructure. This ensures a consistent joint width and invisible fastening. Make sure to install the clips firmly, but without applying too much pressure, to avoid damaging the boards.

A2 or A4 stainless steel screws are ideal because they are corrosion-resistant and durable. For tropical wood, drill-tip screws are recommended to minimize pre-drilling and prevent cracking.

The spacer should ensure the recommended joint width (usually 5–8 mm) to allow for adequate ventilation and water drainage. Choose spacers made of robust materials such as plastic or metal that are durable and weather-resistant.

For assembly you need:
Cordless screwdriver with matching bit.
Tape measure and spirit level.
Spacer or spacer.
Wood drill (for tropical wood).
Rubber hammer for adjusting the planks.
