Fade wooden terrace

A cover prevents the substructure of the terrace from being seen. However, facing can also have a negative effect on the lifespan of the terrace if it blocks good ventilation of the terrace from below.

indent the substructure

A facing is usually screwed to the substructure. Therefore, the facing must be taken into account when laying the substructure. The substructure should be indented at least one plank thickness under the top covering so that the facing later finishes flush with the top covering.

Screw the wood facing

The facing is attached to the substructure with terrace screws. Make sure there is a gap of at least 5mm to the top covering. In addition, the facing should be screwed on at a maximum distance of 50 cm. Contact with the ground should be avoided and the following applies to structural wood protection: the more air there is between the facing and the foundation, the better. If in doubt, the plank for the facing must be split open on the long side and cut narrower.

Screw aluminum cover

The aluminum facing is also attached to the substructure. Since the perforated profile is only 3mm thick, the substructure does not have to be indented as much as with wood panelling. The aluminum facing is attached to the substructure with sheet metal screws. Ground contact is possible and the constructive wood protection is not restricted, since the perforation of the profile does not prevent ventilation.
