If you are laying parquet for the first time, you are better off with click parquet. Here you will find our construction instructions for a parquet made of solid wood planks.
The substrate for laying parquet should be solid, dry - especially with fresh screed, make sure that it is completely dry - dust-free and level. Unevenness should definitely be repaired with filler. It can be laid on cement screed but also on firmly screwed chipboard. If you carefully prepare the substrate, you save a lot of effort when laying.
Solid wood parquet is usually glued over the entire surface. This is more work but much more durable and safer. Which adhesive to choose depends on the type of substrate. The manufacturer's instructions show how much time is left after applying the adhesive to lay the planks. For example, if you exceed the period of 10 minutes, the parquet will not hold properly. So: apply only as much adhesive to the floor as you can lay afterwards. If you lay solid wood parquet floating, you need impact sound insulation. This does not apply to glued parquet.
Before laying, the walls must be checked for squareness. If you orientate yourself on a crooked wall, the laid parquet will appear crooked if the other walls are straight. It is better to stretch a guide wire or stick and then lay the parquet straight in the room and to the other walls. The gaps resulting from the alignment are filled in at the end.
In addition, before laying, the laying consideration should be chosen depending on the spatial possibilities and the desired look: diagonally or straight.
Before the parquet is laid, it should be stored horizontally in the packaging in the room in which it is to be laid for approx. 48 hours. The room temperature should be between 18 and 24. This gives the wood enough time to acclimate.
