Origin & character of the wood

Ilomba grows in the tropical rainforests of West and Central Africa, including Gabon, Cameroon, Angola and the Republic of Congo. The tree from the Myristicaceae family produces a light-coloured, evenly textured wood that is characterized by a calm grain and good workability.

Gentle structure, natural brightness

Ilomba has a light-colored sapwood and almost no distinguishable heartwood. The grain is very straight, giving the wood a particularly homogeneous appearance. It is ideal for applicationswhere a simple, unobtrusive appearance is desired.

Sensitive to moisture

The wood tends to shrink unevenly when drying, which can lead to cracks. In outdoor areas, it is suitable due to its durability class not very suitable. Indoors, however, Ilomba can be used in a variety of ways, for example for moldingsfor moldings, blind wood, furniture interiors and veneers.
