Origin & character of the wood
Punah is a fine tropical wood from South East Asia and comes mainly from the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. The tree Pterocarpus indicus is widespread there and has been used for centuries for high-quality furniturefurniture, interior fittings and handicrafts.
A blaze of color and natural elegance
The heartwood has an attractive light red to reddish brown hue, often accompanied by darker stripes or veins. The scattered pore structure gives Punah a calm yet decorative appearance. Its natural sheen makes it particularly elegant in high-quality interiors. interiors.
Technically versatile and easy to process
Punah is easy to plane, sand and polish. However, the sometimes irregular grain pattern requires clean and careful work. Punah is moderately durable in temperate climates, while it is less resistant in tropical regions. Protective measures significantly increase the service life.
