Sustainability

The concept of sustainability describes the use of a regenerable system in such a way that this system retains its essential properties and its stock can be regenerated naturally. The term originally comes from forestry. Sustainable management means managing forest land and using it in a way and to a degree that maintains its biological diversity, productivity, regenerative capacity and vitality. The aim is to preserve their ability to fulfill important ecological, economic and social functions at local, national and global levels now and in the future. In addition, the sustainable management of a forest area must not harm other ecosystems.
